Client's Content Policy team is seeking an Oversight Board Liaison for our Oversight Board Liaison team. This person will help review potential cases destined for the Board, draft submissions to the Board about client’s content policy decisions, and manage day-to-day case operations. We are looking for an analytical thinker with experience in law and advocacy (with an emphasis on legal writing) as well as strong project management skills. A background in human rights law is a plus, but not required. This position will focus on researching cases being appealed to the Board, understanding Client's actions in those cases, explaining client's reasoning in written submissions to the Oversight Board, working with internal client's teams to make process and policy improvements as appropriate, and organizing live briefings for Board members and staff. As a member of client's Content Policy Team, you will work closely with a highly talented and experienced team of subject matter experts on content and product policies. You will be responsible for understanding client's policies and operations in order to best support the Board, our company, and the people who use our services. You will also manage high-profile content escalations and, at times, you will be expected to make difficult decisions under pressure about whether to allow or remove content.

The ideal candidate will possess strong organization and writing skills (preferably from prior legal experience), and will be able to critically analyze the tradeoffs and benefits of refinements to client's policies and processes and communicate these issues effectively. The ideal candidate will also be a self-starter and able to work with other client employees to understand, and effectively communicate, Client’s decision rationales to the Oversight Board. Given the demands of content-related escalations, the candidate will be expected to occasionally work irregular hours, including early mornings, late nights, or weekends.

•Build relationships with and understand the perspectives of partners on internal teams such as Public Policy, Governance, Operations, Engineering, Product Management, Communications, Marketing, Partnerships, and Legal

•Provide feedback to operational, policy, and other Client's teams to implement recommendations from the Oversight Board

•Act as a global escalation point of contact and manage internal communications for policy issues

•Experience managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders

•Strong written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated ability to draft persuasive written materials

•Ability to work with potentially graphic and objectionable content

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

•Graduate degree in Law

•Experience in or with the technology industry, including social media content issues

•Experience investigating and working on complex legal cases or policy issues

•Experience working with civil rights or human rights topics, including freedom of expression

•Experience working with and presenting to professionally diverse teams and audiences

•Understand and articulate how client's values and policies apply to these cases, verbally and in writing

•Manage day-to-day case operations, including tracking case milestones and deadlines

•Build relationships with and understand the perspectives of partners on internal teams such as Public Policy, Governance, Operations, Engineering, Product Management, Communications, Marketing, Partnerships, and Legal

•Provide feedback to operational, policy, and other client teams to implement recommendations from the Oversight Board

•Act as a global escalation point of contact and manage internal communications for policy issues
