The Collector, under general supervision and according to established procedures, performs collection activities for assigned accounts. Contact patients and insurance company representatives by telephone or through correspondence to check the status of claims, obtain insurance information, check on interim billings, and counsel patients on financial arrangements. Maintains collection files on the accounts receivable system



Job Responsibilities

• Performs collection activities for assigned accounts. Contact patients, insurance companies, attorneys, employers, and Physicians to resolve payment difficulties or arrange satisfactory payment plans

• Contacts patients and insurance company representatives by telephone or through correspondence to check the status of claims, obtain insurance information, check on interim billings, and counsel patients on financial arrangements

• Maintains collection files on the accounts receivable system. Enters detailed records consisting of any pertinent information needed for collection follow-up

• Processes accounts for write-off. Conducts thorough research on accounts to determine if they qualify for write-off. Presents complete documentation to the Billing and Collections Manager for approval

• Counsels patients regarding accounts and responds to patient inquiries

• Communicates with collection affiliates and provides information to the Credit Bureau in solving payment difficulties

• Receives, reviews, and responds to correspondence related to accounts. Takes action as required
