Required Education

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.



Required Qualifications / Skills / Experience

• 2–4 years of laboratory experience

• Experience performing laboratory testing and data collection

• Ability to understand and follow experimental procedures and protocols

• Experience documenting results and maintaining laboratory records

• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• Ability to work safely with chemicals and follow laboratory safety practices

• Ability to stand for extended periods while working in a laboratory



Preferred Qualifications / Skills / Experience

• Experience with coatings, paints, or chemical formulation testing

• Experience testing performance characteristics of coated substrates

• Familiarity with laboratory data analysis and reporting



Lab Technician Overview

• The Lab Technician supports the Technical Service laboratory by performing chemical and materials testing, collecting and analyzing experimental data, and documenting results in accordance with established procedures. Working under the supervision of a Senior Technician or Chemist, this role contributes to product testing and development related to coatings, cleaners, pretreatments, and paints. The position requires strong attention to detail, adherence to laboratory safety protocols, and the ability to independently execute experiments and report findings.



Job Duties

• Perform laboratory testing of coatings and related chemical products

• Evaluate, collect, and accurately record experimental data

• Conduct experiments using established laboratory procedures and protocols

• Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and documentation of results

• Use computer tools to enter data and generate charts and tables for reporting

• Assist in preparing chemical formulations including cleaners, pretreatments, paints, and coatings

• Test performance characteristics of coated substrates using standard testing procedures

• Follow all laboratory safety procedures when handling chemicals and materials
