Job Description
***Only qualified Business Analyst candidates located near the Richmond, VA area will be considered due to the role requiring an onsite presence ***

Required Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field

Required certifications:
• Certification such as CBAP, CFA, CPA, or PMI-PBA

Required Skills:
• Experience as a Business Analyst, in finance or financial systems with strong understanding of general ledger, financial reporting, budgeting, grants (7 Years)
• Experience working with custom-built or configurable financial systems (5 Years)
• Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, visio) (5 Years)
• Familiarity with SDLC and agile methodologies (Scrum, Sprint) (4 Years)
• Experience in analyzing issues, problem-solving, and communication skills required (4 Years)
• Ability to translate complex financial rules based on the stories into the technical requirements. (4 Years)

Desired Skills:
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g.,Oracle financials, financial applications) (3 Years)
• Knowledge of financial data modeling and database structures (3 Years)
• Basic understanding like APIs, ETL tools and integration between finance modules (2 Years)
• Experience working in government or public-sector environments (2 Years)

About the Job: We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Business Analyst to support the design, development, and optimization of custom financial systems. This role bridges finance and technology, ensuring that business requirements are accurately translated into functional system solutions that enhance financial reporting, planning, and operations.

Responsibilities:
• Partner with finance stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business requirements for custom financial systems.
• Translate business needs into functional specifications, user stories, and process flows.
• Collaborate with developers, system architects, and QA teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Analyze existing financial processes and identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
• Support the implementation and configuration of financial modules (e.g., GL, AP/AR, budgeting, grants, forecasting).
• Perform data analysis, validation, and reconciliation to ensure system accuracy and integrity.
• Develop test plans, execute UAT (User Acceptance Testing), and document results.
• Create user documentation, training materials, and provide end-user support.
• Assist in system integrations with other enterprise platforms (ERP, CRM, data warehouses).
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal controls, data security and audit requirements
