Job Description
Required Education:
• High School Diploma or GED
Required Qualifications / Skills / Experience:
• 1+ year of healthcare insurance–related experience
• Experience using Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Outlook, and Word
Preferred Qualifications / Skills / Experience:
• Insurance billing or collections experience
• Customer service experience in a healthcare environment
• Experience working in a healthcare reimbursement system
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to work in a team environment
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to utilize analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize based on importance
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
Pharmacy Billing Coordinator Overview:
• The Pharmacy Billing Coordinator supports a specialty mail-service pharmacy operation by ensuring timely and accurate billing of third-party insurance claims associated with medication dispensing
• This role is responsible for submitting and transmitting claims to insurance payors, resolving billing edits, and addressing insurance or patient-related issues resulting from incomplete information, therapy changes, or processing errors
• As part of a fast-paced, team-oriented billing and reimbursement environment, the coordinator works closely with patients, healthcare professionals, and insurance carriers to ensure efficient claim resolution and reimbursement
• The position requires strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accurate documentation
Job Duties:
• Bill third-party insurance claims associated with dispensed medications using payer-required billing methods
• Transmit and submit paper and electronic claims to insurance payors for reimbursement
• Resolve insurance and patient issues related to incorrect or incomplete information, therapy changes, or pharmacy or shipping errors
• Maintain detailed and chronological notes documenting actions taken to resolve billing edits
• Maintain patient demographic and insurance information within data collection systems
• Complete billing reports, queues, and diversions according to payer and company policy guidelines
• Research and respond to commercial and governmental payors regarding billing issues via phone, internet, and written communication
• Contact patients, physician offices, and insurance carriers as needed to expedite billing claims
