Required Education:
• A minimum of 18 semester credit hours in accounting, auditing or taxation courses or 2 years’ experience performing bookkeeping or auditing tasks is required.
Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles and auditing practices.

Job Description:
The Auditor is responsible for performing a variety of financial and compliance auditing functions. This position involves examining fiscal and accounting records to ensure accuracy, compliance, and proper documentation of financial activities. The Auditor will review food service receipts and invoices to determine the allowability of expenses and prepare detailed reports summarizing audit findings. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a professional approach when working with program staff and the public.
Job Duties:
• Examine and analyze financial records, including bank statements, general ledgers, financial statements, and payroll records.
• Review food service receipts and invoices to assess accuracy and determine allowability of expenses based on applicable policies and guidelines.
• Identify discrepancies, errors, or non-compliance issues and document findings.
• Prepare clear, concise, and accurate written reports summarizing audit results and recommendations.
• Maintain organized and thorough audit documentation and records.
• Communicate effectively with program staff and the public in a professional and courteous manner.
• Manage multiple assignments while meeting established deadlines.
• Utilize Microsoft Office applications to compile, analyze, and report financial data.
• Travel throughout New York State, including an occasional overnight stay, may be required. Expenses incurred while in travel status will be reimbursed directly to the traveler.
