Preferred Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
• Advanced accounting education or professional certifications (e.g., CPA)
Required Skills and Experience:
• Proven experience in technical accounting (general accounting experience alone is not sufficient)
• Strong understanding of financial statement integrity and SOX control environments
• Ability to analyze financial reports and cost data to influence business outcomes
• Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and business planning activities
• Ability to provide financial and operational insights to management for decision-making
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with internal teams and business partners
• Ability to work independently and progressively operate as a financial consultant
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred Skills and Experience:
• Technical accounting experience within an Electric Utility company
• Experience participating in or leading special projects and cross-functional initiatives
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and improving financial and business acumen
This position is a niche, technical accounting role and unique at Client and in the Utility Industry. We need experienced technical accountants at a minimum to apply, rather than general skill accountants. Technical accounting experience at an Electric Utility company is a plus, but not 100% necessary.
Job Duties:
• Ensure the integrity of the financial statements and a sarbanes-oxley control environment.
• Improve financial and business acumen by seeking personal education and reviewing business information and technical documents.
• Support and influence the development and review of budgets and business planning activities.
• Support and influence the development and review of monthly forecasts and savings/use.
• Actively develop and foster relationships within the team and with business partner(s).
• Analyze financial reports and cost data to influence outcomes for the achievement of business objectives.
• Provides management with financial and operational insight to drive effective decision-making. Participate in special projects and initiatives as requested.
