Required Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a closely related field



Required Skills, Experience, and Knowledge:

• Relevant experience in accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, or a related discipline

• Strong Excel skills, including formulas, lookup functions, PivotTables, and data reconciliation

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to financial accuracy

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet recurring reporting and financial deadlines

• Ability to explain financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders



Preferred Skills, Experience, and Knowledge:

• Experience with CUNYfirst, PeopleSoft, or another enterprise financial-management system



Budget & Financial Analysis Job Responsibilities:

• Review and reconcile budget allocations, expenditures, encumbrances, payroll, and position information in CUNYfirst and related financial records

• Research budget-to-actual variances, identify discrepancies, and work with departments to determine appropriate resolutions

• Prepare budget adjustments, accounting entries, and supporting documentation

• Validate ChartField information and confirm budget availability for transactions

• Maintain accurate financial schedules, reconciliations, and documentation

• Compile and analyze financial information for monthly reporting, forecasts, and year- end projections

• Monitor departmental spending against approved budgets and identify emerging budget issues

• Analyze personnel costs and position information to support budget planning and monitoring

• Develop Excel spreadsheets and financial reports for management review

• Partner with academic and administrative departments to answer budget questions and resolve financial discrepancies

• Coordinate with Accounting, Human Resources, Payroll, Purchasing, and Central offices as needed

• Assist with fiscal year-end closeout, audits, compliance reviews, financial-system testing, data validation, and process documentation

• Support additional Budget Office projects and financial-analysis initiatives as assigned
