Job Description

• Sorting medical corresponded from patients / attorneys.
• Batching and scanning – entering totals to correspondence tracking sheet.
• Printing and faxing.
• Adding notes to patient accounts on correspondence received.

Job family description:
• Customer Service Positions are related to Revenue Cycle; processing medical billing for Optum.

Job functional description:
• Under general supervision, this position is responsible to ensure services provided to patients are fully paid by patient promptly and or ask to contact patients to determine reason for payment delinquency and negotiate payment plan options based on guidelines. Focus on customer service when working with patients, clinical departments and carriers to ensure service questions and charge disputes are handled promptly and professionally. In addition, will have teammate help in support and managing the organization policies on collection practices. Demonstrate ability in job skills through training, audit and certification to standard work.

General job profile:
• All teammates must certify on the 10 team basic skills and 3 QA basic skills by one year of employment.

• Works with more complex issue accounts
• Serves to be a resource to others

Job scope and guidelines:
• Reviews and interprets patients’ needs and or request.
• Ability to problem solving and decision making.
• Provides feedback on errors found or difficult issues that arise.

Additional scope and guidelines:
• Has regular and predictable attendance
• Completes annual compliance training on HIPAA/Privacy/Confidentiality/Occupational Safety & Health, OSHA, L&I and other state/federal regulations.
• Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, & systems.
• Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT coding.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with teammates, patients, the public and external agencies.

Minimum Education Background:
• High School Diploma, or GED required.
