Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (35 hours/week)
SUMMARY:
• Administrative: Performs office work directly related to the maintenance and coordination of government records throughout their lifecycle.
• The Data Manager II (Records Analyst) performs various duties including, but not limited to:
• Works with the Archivist & Public Records Administrator to ensure ongoing and proper care and appropriate disposition of public records
• Assists with processing Records Center storage and work orders from agencies, in collaboration with the Public Records Administration staff
• Assists in preparing for Archives public programs
• Retrieves or scans files upon request by other staff members
• Provides administrative support to the Archives Reference Program by answering phone inquiries, providing information, transferring calls and/or taking messages as necessary, and responding to general requests via email and in person
• Conducts, promotes, encourages, and assists with research about Rhode Island history, government, and culture in the reference and reading room, through virtual reference and presentations, and as otherwise needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, History, or Business Administration, with demonstrated coursework in political science, demonstrated training in records management, or any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the previously described education and experience.
• Master’s Degree in Library/Archival Science, Public Administration, or History preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Excellent project and time management skills.
• Ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic, time-restricted environment. Ability to work under pressure with good humor.
• Strong interpersonal and customer relations skills. The Data Manager II (Records Analyst) must be an inclusive collaborator who is able to develop and maintain relationships with Agencies staff and the public.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally, with the, supervisors, colleagues, agency records staff and the public.
• Strong computer skills, including knowledge of programs utilized to process text, create presentations, and manage database information.
• Ability to pick up new computer skills quickly.
• Ability to think analytically and to develop new or revised systems, procedures, and workflows.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy boxes weighing on average 30-40 pounds.
